A walk along this loop in late spring or early summer could produce over half-a-dozen breeding warblers including cerulean Blackburnian and black-throated blue.

This circuit hike of 13 miles is for people of all ages and has a 5 wide crushed greenstone walkway on a gentle grade with frequent benches a boardwalk and a bridge. The round trip hike of 32 miles is moderate with a fairly steep return climb. Just after the chain take a left onto the Skyland-Big Meadows Horse Trail yellow-blazed.

Skyline Loop and Salt Creek Falls. Limberlost Trail milepost 43 is often enjoyed by persons with mobility challenges. For most of this hike youll be on a beautiful trail in one of the parks federally designated wilderness areas.

All waterfalls are along blue-blazed forested trails. The Skyline Trail is the main route for hiking out of Paradise Mount Rainiers south side hub and most popular destination providing visitors a unique opportunity to experience the breathtaking beauty of Washingtons grandest mountain. This 33-mile loop trail that takes visitors to the South River Falls and then returns via the South River Fire Road is touted as one of the best areas for breeding birds found along Skyline Drive.

After lots of rain there are as many as four cascades. Theyll be able to tell you which waterfalls hikes are best for your family. The trailhead is just across the road and follows the Browns Gap fire road for the first stretch probably about a mile and a half.

Skyline Boulevard properly known as California State Route 35 is one of the greatest pick-your-own-adventure routes here in the Bay Area. You pass 6 waterfalls including one that is 82 feet and hike through ancient Limberlost Hemlock trees. Just a short distance up Skyline Drive is a hiking trail that goes to three separate waterfalls each a worthy destination by itself.

Even before the historic Paradise Inn was constructed in 1916 the Paradise valley has long been one of the states most beloved hiking destinations. Rose River Falls from mile 494 along Skyline Drive is a dazzling cascade of 67 feet.

If I recall correctly there is a waterfall at the end of the Rose River Falls fire trail park at Fishers Gap Overlook and that would be an easy walk of about a mile on a fairly flat and wide trail. From the Fishers Gap parking area mile 494 cross Skyline Drive and start down the fire road. Spanning the northern crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains it features so many of our regions best hikes waterfalls vistas and big.

Skyline Drive part of Shenandoah National Park runs north-south for 105 miles along the Blue Ridge Mountains. South River Falls has a spectacular 83 foot drop and is located in the midst of wildflowers which make this hike very colorful in the spring. But note that they all involve a hike downhilland of course the harder hike back up.
